1898/2012: RENOVATION OF KADAWANA TANK : FUND ALLOCATION

Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Agrarian Services and Wildlife,—

(a) Is he aware that eventhough nearly 26 years have lapsed since the dam of the Kadawana tank in Thambalagamuwa Divisional Secretariat Division in Trincomalee District was blown up by LTTE terrorists, the farmers are unable to start cultivation activities as it has not been renovated up to now ?

(b) Will he inform this House—

(i) of the problems that have cropped up in relation to the renovation of the aforesaid tank;

(ii) whether action will be taken to solve those problems and renovate the tank expeditiously;

(iii) whether provisions for this purpose have been allocated by now; and

(iv) if so, the date on which the construction work will be commenced ?

ගරු නියෝජ්‍ය කථානායකතුමනි, මම ආර්ථික සංවර්ධන අමාත්‍යතුමා වෙනුවෙන් එම ප්‍රශ්නයට පිළිතුරු දෙනවා.

(අ) ත්‍රිකුණාමලය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ තඹලගමුව ප්‍රාදේශීය ලේකම් කොට්ඨාසයට අයත් කඩවාන වැව් බැම්ම ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීම සම්බන්ධයෙන් දිස්ත්‍රික් සම්බන්ධීකරණ කමිටුවේදී ද සාකච්ඡා කර එම දිස්ත්‍රික්කය නියෝජනය කරන ආර්ථික සංවර්ධන නියෝජ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය ගරු සුසන්ත පුංචිනිලමේ මැතිතුමා විසින් එම වැව ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කිරීමේ කටයුතු ආරම්භ කිරීම සඳහා මහත් වෙහෙසක් ගනු ලැබීය.

(ආ) (i) මෙම කඩවාන වැව් බැම්ම වනජීවී සංරක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තම්න්තුවට අයත් භූමියක පිහිටා ඇති බැවින් විශේෂයෙන් පරිසරයට හා වනජීවීන්ට බාධාවක් නොවන පරිදි සහ ඒවා ආරක්ෂා වන පරිදි වැවේ ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණ කටයුතු සිදු කළ යුතු ය. එබැවින් අදාළ බලධාරින් සමඟ සාකච්ඡා කර එම කාර්යය කිරීම සඳහා අවශ්‍ය කටයුතු කරමින් පවතී.

(v) ඉහත බාධාවන් ඉවත් වූ වහාම ඉදිකිරීම් කටයුතු ආරම්භ කිරීමට නියමිතය.
