Hon. Tissa Attanayake,— To ask the Minister of Postal Services,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) a ceremony was held on 04.01.2010 at the auditorium of the National Apprentice Board at Katubadda to mark the Universal Postal Day;
(ii) in addition to that, a get together cum a dinner party was held on the ship Jetliner by a group of officials of the Department of Posts to commemorate that day?
(b) Will he state—
(i) the amount of money spent by the Department of Posts for the aforesaid party; and
(ii) whether due approval had been obtained to spend funds in that manner ?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether he admits that it is not reasonable to spend money in this manner leaving aside the necessity to meet the service requirements and the staff requirements of the Department of Posts which incurs an annual loss of nearly Rs. 26 billion; and
(ii) of the measures that will be taken in this respect ?
(d) If not, why ?
