Hon. Wasantha Aluwihare,— To ask the Minister of Ports and Highways,—
(a) Is he aware that development of Matale-Raththota road has been started?
(b) Will he state—
(i) whether surveying has been completed and road plans have been prepared to develop that road ;
(ii) the estimated amount for that project ; and
(iii) the amount that has been allocated for this work ?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the extent of land taken over and the number of houses demolished and removed in the activities connected to widening this road ;
(ii) of the names of the persons who will lose those lands and houses ;
(iii) whether a gazette notification has been issued with respect to the aforesaid taking over of property ; and
(iv) if a gazette notification has not been issued, the reasons for that?
(d) Will he state—
(i) whether compensation is provided for the property taken over in widening the aforesaid road ;
(ii) the amount allocated for that ;
(iii) the date on which payment of such compensation will be completed ;
(iv) whether alternative lands will be provided for those taken over ; and
(v) if so, the location from where such lands will be provided?
(e) If not, why ?
