(a) (i) Number of employees (civil) in the Government and Police sent on retirement from 01.01.2016 to 31.12.2019

(ii) Particulars of the number of persons receiving the Widows’ and Orphans’/Widowers’ and Orphans’ Pension and the amount spent for the payment of pension to such persons during the period from 01.01.2016 to 31.12.2019 are attached herewith as Annexes 01* and 02*.
(iii) The number of public servants sent on retirement from 01.01.2015 to 31.12.2015 and whose applications were submitted to the Department - 23,583
The number of public servants sent on retirement from 01.01.2020 to 31.12.2020 and whose applications were submitted to the Department - 24,319
(iv) The number of public servants receiving pension as at 31.12.2020 - 660,934
Amount spent for the payment of pension to them for the month of December - Rs. 19,951,890,787.41
(Total expenditure from 01.01.2020 to 31.12.2020 is given in Annex 03*.)
(b) (i) It has been calculated that an additional allocation of approximately Rs. 11 billion is required to pay the pension to be paid as at 01.01.2020 to the public servants sent on retirement from 01.01.2016 to 31.12.2019 as per Circular 35/2019.
(ii) The number of persons demised as at 31.12.2020, out of the pensioners sent on retirement from 01.01.2016 to 31.12.2019 - 1,849
(iii) On a day when the Government will make the necessary legal and financial provisions to make the payments.
(iv) Pension is prepared as per the salary on the maximum salary point based on Public Administration Circular No. 3/2016 by 2020, the year in which the pension is prepared. Accordingly, the pension of the officers who retired in the year 2020 is calculated based on the maximum salary relevant to the year 2020, as per Public Administration Circular No. 3/2016. Therefore, Public Administration Circular No. 35/2019 does not apply to them since their pension has already been prepared on the proposed salary to be paid by Public Administration Circular No. 35/2019.
(c) Not relevant since the above answers have been provided.
