(a) (i) According to the information provided by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, which comes under the purview of Ministry of Technology, the Sri Lanka Customs has been advised to return the stocks of canned fish imported to Sri Lanka during the year 2020.
(ii) The dates and quantity of canned fish recommended by Sri Lanka Standards Institution to be returned by the Sri Lanka Customs are detailed separately in Annexure 01.
The reason which contributed for returning them is that the amount of Arsenic elements present in them was incompatible as per the recommendation of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution.
(iii) According to the information provided by the Sri Lanka Customs, names of institutions/individuals that imported the aforesaid stocks of canned fish which were returned are detailed in Annexure 02.
(b) Does not arise.
