732/2020 Hon. K. P. S. Kumarasiri,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance,— Is he aware that— nearly 305 million people around the world use PayPal Gateway as the E Commerce websites are the easiest channels to sell goods to a foreign country; aforesaid option can be used to sell Sri Lankan goods to foreign countries; foreign exchange income channels related to sale of goods and services to foreign countries are rendered useless as the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has not made aforesaid option available in Sri Lanka; Sri Lankan Companies that use the online systems to provide services, create PayPal accounts with foreign addresses; a huge amount of income that should reach Sri Lanka has been diverted to foreign countries as commissions due to aforesaid reason? Will he inform this House — whether steps will be taken to remove existing barriers with regard to sale of goods and services to foreign countries by way of Online systems; and If so, of aforesaid measures? If not why ?
