653/2020 Hon. (Dr.) Harsha de Silva,— To ask the Minister of Wildlife & Forest Conservation,— (a) Is he aware that deforestation has been caused in a number of forest Reserves including the Ellala Forest Reserve in Hambanttota, Ratmale Forest Reserve in Horowpathana and Adiyahinna Forest Reserve in Mahadivulwewa? (b) Will he inform this House—(i) if so, the reasons for not taking steps against the persons who caused such deforestation;(ii) the extent of land that has been destroyed in those forest reserves in hectares; and (iii) the reasons for spreading deforestation as a wave in Sri Lanka? (c) If not, why?
