Hon. Rauff Hakeem,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that WP/Co/ Jayanthi Vidyalaya in Grandpass, Colombo 14, is a school with classes from Grades 1 to 11 and where children from low income families in the area study?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the date on which the responsible authorities visited that school last in order to find out the existing situation of that school;
(ii) whether attention will be paid to the problems facing that school such as the need for rehabilitation of the dangerous wall around the school, renovating the internal drainage system, buildings, wire mesh coverings, internal access roads, water supply system and the electricity supply, classrooms, toilet facilities, and the need for computers, dearth of teachers and the vacancy in a post of watcher; and
(iii) if so, whether immediate steps will be taken to solve the aforesaid problems, which the school has been facing over a long period of time?
(c) If so, why?
