602/2020 Hon. (Dr.) Upul Galappaththi,— To ask the Minister of Health,— (a) Is she aware that— (i) media reported that a number of serious acts of fraud and corruption that had been taken place in the Ministry of Health were investigated by the Special Presidential Commission of Inquiry to Investigate into fraud and corruption in the public sector institutes during the previous “Good Governance” government; and (ii) the aforesaid investigations included awarding of tenders to purchase anti-cancer drugs, awarding of the tender to purchase the antibiotic named ‘flucloxacillin’, and misuse of public funds in acquiring Nevil Fernando Hospital in Malabe to government? (b) Will she inform this House — (i) whether the information that have been discovered through those investigations and the recommendations of the aforesaid Presidential Commission have been looked for; (ii) if so, of the recommendations that have been made as per the reports of the aforesaid Presidential Commission; (iii) of the names of persons against whom recommendations have been made to take legal action; and (iv) of the steps that will be taken by the Ministry in future regarding those recommendations? (c) If not, why?
