432/2020 Hon. Shantha Bandara,— To ask the Minister of Trade,—
(a) Is he aware that Mahapola Scholarships are awarded to the students who are selected to government universities from low income families?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) the total number of scholarship recipients that were awarded Mahapola Scholarships in the year 2020; and
(ii) the minimum qualification required to get the aforesaid scholarship?
(c) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether he admits the fact that there is a group of students that do not receive the Mahapola Scholarship though they are qualified to get the said scholarship; and
(ii) whether steps will be taken to mete out justice on the part of the aforesaid students?
(d) If not, why?
