Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna,— To ask the Minister of Transport,—
(a) Will he explain to this House the present situation with regard to the construction of the Kurunegala-Habarana railway line?
(b) Is he aware that—
(i) three surveys have been carried out for the determination of the line of this project;
(ii) it has been decided to construct this railway line as per the third survey; and
(iii) the railway station proposed to be constructed close to Athuparayaya village, Dambulla as per third survey is located afar from the town than the land on which the proposed railway station was scheduled to be constructed in the first survey?
(c) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the land on which the proposed railway station is scheduled to be constructed close to Athuparayaya village as per the third survey is a land with very high economic value; and
(ii) if not, whether action will be taken to pay compensation in line with the current market value?
(d) If not, why?
