(Dr.) (Ms.) Harini Amarasuriya,— To ask the Minister of Education,— Will he inform this House separately, of the number of children currently institutionalized in Remand Homes, Certified Schools, Receiving Homes and Detention Homes? Will he also inform this House in respect of each of the above institutions– average time duration of a child’s stay; money allocated by the Government per child; categories and basic qualifications of the staff attached; staff-child ratio; steps taken for reintegrating the children back into the community; steps taken for ensuring the wellbeing of these children; and the procedures adopted for monitoring of these institutions? Will he further inform this House in respect of the period from 2015 to 2019 of the number of children— entered and left each of the above institutions; and left and are gainfully employed and living securely in the community? If not, Why?
