Hon. Mohamed Aslam,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs,—
(a) Will he state the number of unauthorized and illegal constructions identified within Galle Municipal limits by the Urban Development Authority by now and their locations ?
(b) Is he aware that—
(i) the Galle district Director of the Urban Development Authority has been informed by the Authorized Director by the letter bearing No. 05/02/අන/පැ/44/62 and dated 09/02/2010 that there was a danger of the collapse of an uncovered brick wall due to the exposure to rains, at one unauthorized two storey building in Galle city, out of the above mentioned unauthorized constructions;
(ii) this has been communicated to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration (Ombudsman) by the Galle Municipal Commissioner by the letter bearing No. ME/UA/2008/103 and dated 15/09/2008;
(iii) steps have not been taken up to now to demolish and remove that unauthorized and dangerous section of construction ?
(c) Will he state the policy adopted by the Urban Development Authority regarding the unauthorized construction identified in (a) and the unauthorized building mentioned in (b) ?
(d) If not, why ?
