Hon. S. M. Marikkar,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs and Minister of Urban Development & Housing,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) certain areas in Kolonnawa Divisional Secretariat are flooded even when showers are experienced for few hours;
(ii) day to day activities of the people are disrupted when roads are submerged;
(iii) not having a proper mechanism for rain water to recede is the main reason for this situation; and
(iv) the previous government had given its approval to develop 25 culverts as a solution for this matter and work on five culverts had been completed under the previous administration?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether the government has any programme to develop the remaining culverts out of the 25 culverts above; and
(ii) if so, the said programme is?
(c) If not, why?
