127/2020 Hon. Charles Nirmalanathan,— To ask the Minister of Highways,— (a) Is he aware that— (i) the transportation is hampered owing to the dilapidated state of the Wattuwakal Bridge which is 402 meters in length and considered as the major bridge in the Kilinochchi - Mulative A 50 main road belonging to the Road development authority, which has not hitherto undergone any repair but being used as a single track road with the possibility of passing one vehicle at a time, in spite of the fact that ten years have lapsed after the conclusion of terrorism which prevailed in the Northern Province; and (ii) no action has been hitherto taken with regard to this situation, although this has been reiterated by me in this House on many occasions during the last regime? (b) If so, will he inform this House of the date on which the above Wattuwakal bridge would be reconstructed as a double track road and opened for public? (c) If not, why?
