113/2020 Hon. Shantha Bandara,_ To ask the Minister of Justice,_ (a) Is he aware that ,_ (i) the Ministry of Justice gives appointments of Justices of the peace ; (ii) the aforesaid Justices of the peace perform a huge social service ? (b) Will he inform this House of the minimum qualifications that are required in appointing the Justices of the peace? (c) Does he admit the fact that there are a big number of social workers in rural areas ,who have obtained G.C.E. (O/L) qualifications ? (d) Will he also inform this House of the fact whether positions of Justices of the peace will be given to such social workers ? (e) If not , why ?
