0102/2020: MUTHURAJAWELA SANCTUARY: HOUSING PROJECT

Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Wildlife & Forest           Conservation,—

(a) Is he aware that—

(i) Mutharajawala sanctuary is the largest marshy land in Sri Lanka;

(ii) this sanctuary is getting destroyed due to various development activities; and

(iii) 406 acres of this sanctuary has been provided to a company named Malwatta Property Developers for a housing project?

(b) Will he inform this House of the price at which one perch of land has been given to the aforesaid project?

(c) Will he admit the fact that this transaction is illegal?

(d) If so, will he also inform this House of the action that will be taken against this project?

(e) If not, why?
