Hon. Buddhika Pathirana,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs and Minister of Urban Development & Housing,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the number of Community Police Units operative within Sri Lanka at present;
(ii) of the number of police officers attached to those Units;
(iii) whether measures have been taken to make the public aware of the services available to them through the Community Police Units; and
(iv) if so, what those measures are?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) whether the progress of Community Police Units in the previous year was satisfactory;
(ii) whether the services provided by the Community Police Units in 2018 and 2019 have been assessed in terms of financial value; and
(iii) if so, how much that financial value is?
(c) Will he further inform this House—
(i) whether he admits that a new Bill should be introduced to regulate the functions of Community Police Units; and
(ii) if so, whether action will be taken to present a new Bill?
(d) If not, why?
