21/2020 Hon. Hesha Withanage,— To ask the Minister of Public Security,— Will he inform this House— separately, as per each year of the number of Police Officers who got assassinated while combating crimes, since 2015; of the reasons for the assassinations of aforesaid Police officers; of the measures that the Police Department has taken to protect the spouse and children of aforesaid Police officers; whether steps will be taken in the future to improve the existing measure in regard to the life protection of police officers and their safety of spouse and children; and if so, of the duration of time and methodology? Will he also inform this House— of the value of the allowances paid to the spouse and children of the police officer when got assassinated while combating crimes since 2015; and whether widows & orphans allowances have duly been paid? Will he further inform this House— of the number of officers who got promoted; of the number of officers who did not get promoted; and of the reasons for not granting promotions for the officers who did not get promoted, subsequent to the assassinations? If not, why?
