To ask the Minister of Power and Energy,—
Will he admit the facts that—
His Excellency the President initiated the Norochcholai Thermal power plant project with the firm determination of developing the county, amidst strong resistance from local and foreign forces with rested western interests that do not expect development in Sri Lanka ;
the people who lived around the Norochcholai area vacated their lands on pledge with the strong confidence and hope on his Excellency the President ;
and houses, cultivations, lands, electricity, roads, playgrounds, churches, nurseries and all other social needs were promised to those displaced people through this electricity scheme?
Will he inform this House— if so, the activities carried out so far for those people as per the pledge made to them ;
and whether steps will be taken specially to complete the work hither to undone?
If not, why?
