0830/’10 Hon. Victor Antony,— To ask the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development,— Will he state whether programmes have been initiated regarding activities such as developing fisheries resources, upgrading fisheries facilities, making available marketing facilities and enhancing knowledge of thriftiness of fisher folk in order to give a better social standing for the fisher folk? Will he inform this House of the alternative measures that have been taken to sustain the economy of fisher folk during the closed season? Will he state,- whether a programme has been launched to train fisher women on livelihoods such as drying fish, making potted fish (Jadi), processing fish for animal feed and making ornaments from seashells ; and whether a programme has been designed for the sale of such products? If not, why?
