Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Finance,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) a lottery called Mahajana Sampatha ‘Raja Dinuma’ is drawn by the National Lotteries Board;
(ii) the National Lotteries Board published an advertisement to the effect that a brand new hybrid motor car will be awarded in the 3328th draw of the aforesaid lottery;
(iii) Mr. K.W. G. B Kapukotuwa of Kalamuna, Madugalla, Ududumbara won the motor car in the aforesaid draw;
(iv) the aforesaid motor car was handed over to Mr. Kapukotuwa in the premises of Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation on 25.01.2017;
(v) when the Registration Certificate of the vehicle was examined it was evident that he had been given only a reconditioned motor car instead of a brand new car; and
(vi) though a complaint was made at the National Lotteries Board in this regard, no reply has been received?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether action will be taken to conduct an inquiry in this regard and take legal action against those who committed this fraud;
(ii) whether action will be taken to award a new motor car to Mr. Kapukotuawa; and
(iii) if so, the date on which it will be done?
(c) If not, why?
