Hon. Bimal Rathnayake,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) electronic and print media published in January 2017 that the Ministry of Education will take action to recruit 2753 teachers with formal training in psychological counselling;
(ii) the Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms too issued a statement on 11.08.2017 confirming this;
(iii) a large number of graduates who studied philosophy and psychology remain unemployed at present?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether action will be taken to recruit 2753 teachers with training in psychological counselling as reported by the media;
(ii) if so, of the date on which such recruitments will be made?
(c) If not, why?
