0512/2019: METHODIST CHURCH IN AMPARA : LAND PERMIT

512/’19

Hon. Wimalaweera Dissanayaka,— To ask the Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms,—

(a) Is he aware that—

(i) seventy years have lapsed since the establishment of the Methodist church in Ampara town;

(ii) a legal document for the land where this place of worship is located has not been provided up to now;

(iii) the necessary documents for requesting a long term lease for the said church from 2009 have been prepared and submitted to the Land Commissioner General’s Department; and

(iv) all the documents relevant to the said request have been sent to the Land Commissioner General’s Office by the Deputy Land Commissioner’s Office in Ampara?

(b) Accordingly, will he inform this House whether action will be taken to provide a long term land permit for this church where thousands of people engage in religious rites?

(c) If not, why?
