Hon. S. C. Mutukumarana,— To ask the Prime Minister and Minister of National Policies, Economic Affairs, Resettlement & Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training & Skills Development and Youth Affairs,—
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the rainfall received in each year from year 2010 to 2017 by the surrounding areas of the upper elevation reservoirs of the Mahaweli ‘H’ zone is irrigated;
(ii) of the extent of paddy land cultivated in each year during the aforementioned period; and
(iii) whether farmers who were unable to cultivate due to the shortage of water were provided with relief;
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) of the manner in which the relief mentioned above was provided to the farmers; and
(ii) whether the aforementioned relief scheme will be in effected until harvest is reaped after resuming cultivations?
(c) If not, why?
