Hon. Susantha Punchinilame,— To ask the Minister of Internal & Home Affairs and Provincial Councils & Local Government,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) how many Municipal Councils, Urban Councils and Pradeshiya Sabhas are in existence at present in the island separately;
(ii) which Urban Councils are expected to be elevated to Municipal Council status; and
(iii) which Pradeshiya Sabhas are expected to be elevated to Urban Council status?
(b) Will he also inform this House—
(i) to which local authorities the Ministry had given machinery such as tractors, vacuum tankers, water tankers etc, during the period from 2010 to May 2018 together with the machinery so provided and the dates on which they had been delivered, separately; and
(ii) which local authorities have been identified for grant of such machinery, equipment and tools in due course?
(c) If not, why?
