Hon. Susantha Punchinilame,— To ask the Minister of Education,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) the only school that owned a Mahindodaya Laboratory, among the other schools of Padavi Sri Pura Divisional secretariat Division which is a difficult area with less facilities of Trincomalee district, was Padavi Palugahawanguwa Maha Vidyalaya of Trincomalee North Zone;
(ii) the Mahindodays laboratory which had been in aforesaid school was destroyed by fire on the date of 08.11.2014; and
(iii) the Eastern Provincial Ministry of Education had informed that on 14.09.2017, Rs. 54 Lakh had been allocated for the renovation of the aforesaid laboratory?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the reason that the renovation has not been commenced though 3 ½ years have lapsed since the damage caused due to the fire;
(ii) of the reasons as to why the renovations were not commenced until now, though the money has been allocated for the same;
(iii) as to what happened to the aforesaid allocations mentioned in (a) (iii) above; and
(iv) of the date that the renovation will be commenced?
(c) If not, why?
