Hon. Ishak Rahuman, — To ask the Minister of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine,—
(a) Is he aware that —
(i) a large number of staff vacancies including the vacancies of doctors exist in the Thambuththegama hospital of Anuradhapura District of the North Central province; and
(ii) a news item pertaining to this issue was published in the ‘Rajarata- supplement’ of the Lankadeepa newspaper on Wednesday, the 27th of September, 2017;
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether any measure has been taken to resolve the problems highlighted through the aforesaid news item; and
(ii) if not, of the date on which measures would be taken to provide the public with a productive service, having addressed the aforesaid shortcomings?
(c) If not, why?
