Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of Plantation Industries,—(1)
(a) Will he state separately —
(i) the annual coconut production recorded in Sri Lanka from year 2015 to date;
(ii) the annual export volume of coconut during the aforementioned period; and
(iii) the annual import volume of coconut during the aforementioned period?
(b) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the steps taken by the government to remedy the decline in the coconut yield due to unfavorable weather conditions that prevailed in the recent past;
(ii) whether the farmers were provided with fertilizer at concessionary prices;
(iii) if so, of the quantity of fertilizer provided and the number of farmers that received fertilizer;
(iv) of the number of acres of coconut cultivation that is covered under the above; and
(v) if fertilizer subsidy has not been granted up to now, of the date on which it will be granted?
(c) If not, why?
