0065/2019: IMPORT OF MILCH COWS: DETAILS

Hon. Dayasiri Jayasekara,— To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation and Fisheries & Aquatic Resources Development,—

(a) Will he inform this House—

(i) in respect of each year separately, the estimated amount of money for a milch cow when milch cows are imported to Sri Lanka from 2015 up to now;

(ii) in respect of each year separately, the amount of money paid when the milch cows mentioned in above (i) are imported;

(iii) the number of unproductive and dead cows out of the milch cows that were imported;

(iv) the amount of money spent to develop the infrastructure facilities for the imported milch cows;

(v) the amount of money charged per one cow when these cows are sold to private entrepreneurs; and

(vi) the criteria that have been taken into consideration when the private entrepreneurs are selected to provide milch cows?

(b) If not, why?
