Hon. Hesha Withanage,— To ask the Minister of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports,—
(a) Will he inform this House separately on per year basis —
(i) the number of women that went abroad to work as domestic workers;
(ii) the number of mothers among those women who went abroad to work as domestic workers; and
(iii) the number of women who returned to Sri Lanka after being subjected to abuse and the number of women who died;
from year 2005 to present?
(b) Will he also inform this House —
(i) whether she admits that migration of mothers who have young children cause harmful effects on such children; and
(ii) if so, whether the Ministry will take steps to prevent mothers of young children from migrating to work as domestic workers?
(c) If not, why?
