0708/2010: Korean Jobs for Sri Lankans

Hon. Dunesh Gankanda,— To ask the Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare,—

(a) Will he state—

(i) separately, the number of foreign jobs given to Sri Lanka by the government of Korea each year during the period form the year 2005 to August 2010;

(ii) the procedure that should be followed by a person to obtain such an employment opportunity;

(iii) separately, at district level, the number of persons who left for such jobs;

(iv) separately , for each year, the number of persons registered by now in the Bureau of Foreign Employment having fulfilled the basic requirements for a Korean job?

(b) Will he inform this House —

(i) the period of validity of the registration of a Korean job candidate registered in the Bureau of Foreign Employment;

(ii) the procedure to be followed again by a job candidate whose aforesaid registration has lapsed, to obtain a job in Korea;

(iii) whether priority is given for job candidates registered in the Bureau of Foreign Employment in selecting people for this purpose in the future?

(c) If not, why?
