0639/’10 Hon. (Dr.) Ramesh Pathirana,— To ask the Minister of Civil Aviation,— Will he state— the total estimated amount of money for the construction of the Mattala International Airport in the Hambantota district ; and the extent of the land that has been allocated for the aforesaid construction in hectares? Will he inform this House— of the number of families that have to be evacuated from the aforesaid area to carry out the aforesaid constructions ; separately, of the number of lawful and unlawful occupants out of the aforesaid number of families ; whether there is a programme to provide the aforesaid families with alternative lands ; and if so, what that programme is? Will he submit to this House— the year in which the construction of the aforesaid airport is expected to be completed ; and the approximate number of airline passengers who are expected to use the new airport per year when the construction of the new airport has been completed? If not, why?
