Presentation of Bills
(i) The Hon. Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning moved the Bill entitled
“Appropriation”
to provide for the service of the financial year 2027; to authorize the raising of loans in or outside Sri Lanka, for the purpose of such service; to make financial provision in respect of certain activities of the Government during that financial year; to enable the payment by way of advances out of the Consolidated Fund or any other fund or moneys, of or at the disposal of the Government, of moneys required during that financial year for expenditure on such activities; to provide for the refund of such moneys to the Consolidated Fund and to make provision for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
(ii) The Hon. Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs moved the Bill entitled
“Immigration”
to make provisions for controlling the entry into and departure of persons from Sri Lanka; controlling the stay of persons in Sri Lanka who are not citizens of Sri Lanka; for the issue of travel documents; for the repeal of the Immigrants and Emigrants Act (Chapter 351) and the Passport (Regulation) and Exit Permit Act, No. 53 of 1971; and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “Plan for safeguarding paddy farmers” was proposed by the Hon. (Mrs.) Rohini Kumari Wijerathna, Member of Parliament.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1734 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Thursday 8th October 2026.
