Presentation of Bills
(i) The Hon. Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation moved the Bill entitled
“Animals (Amendment)”
to amend the Animals Act, No. 29 of 1958.
(ii) The Hon. Minister of Housing, Construction and Water Supply moved the Bill entitled
“National Water Supply and Drainage Board (Amendment)”
to amend the National Water Supply and Drainage Board Law, No. 2 of 1974.
House agreed to the following Motion moved by the Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament,
Select Committee of Parliament to look into and Report to Parliament on the release of 323 Containers from the Port of Colombo without undergoing mandatory physical inspection and submit its proposals and recommendations in that regard
That the time period granted to the Select Committee of Parliament to look into and Report to Parliament on the release of 323 Containers from the Port of Colombo without undergoing mandatory physical inspection and submit its proposals and recommendations in that regard, as specified in the Resolution passed by Parliament on 19 November 2025, be extended up to 21 October 2026 in terms of Standing Order 102 of the Parliament, as the Committee needs further time to report its observations to Parliament.
Main Business of the House for Today
Two Decisions under the Standing Orders of Parliament (appearing as Item Nos. 1 and 2 of today’s Order Paper)
were approved by the House.
Adjournment Motion
Adjournment Motion on “work and performance of the Committee on Public Petitions of the Tenth Parliament” was proposed by the Hon. R. M. Gamini Rathnayake, Member of Parliament.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1741 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Wednesday 22nd July 2026.
