A : Receipt of a copy of a petition filed at the Supreme Court


Presentation of Reports from the Committees

(i)    The Report of the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labour and Foreign Employment was presented by the Hon. Manusha Nanayakkara, the Chair of the Committee.
(ii)    The First Interim Report of the Sub – Committee of the National Council of the Ninth Parliament on identifying the priorities in formulation of short, medium and long term national policies which was presented to the National Council was presented by the Hon. Namal Rajapaksa, Attorney at Law, the Chair of the Committee.
(iii)    The Report of the Committee on Public Finance was presented by the Hon. Madhura Withanage, Attorney at Law, a member of the Committee.
(iv)    The Report of the Committee on Public Finance was presented by the Hon. (Mrs.) Kokila Gunawardene, a member of the Committee.

Ministerial Statements

Hon. Shehan Semasinghe, State Minister of Finance, on behalf of the Minister of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies replied to the Question raised by the Hon. Sajith Premadasa under the Standing Order 27(2) of the Parliament on 11.05.2023 regarding Effect on share market, EPF etc. due to domestic debt restructuring.


Main Business of the House for Today

The following Items (Item Nos. (i) to (iii)) were approved by the House.:-

(i) Resolution under the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance
(ii)    Aswesuma Welfare Benefit Payment Scheme under the Welfare Benefits Act
(iii)    Select Committee of Parliament to investigate into and to make suitable recommendations relating to the disasters caused by New Diamond and X-press Pearl Vessels in the Maritime Zone of Sri Lanka


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1813 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Tuesday 23rd May 2023.
