Presentation of Bills
The Hon. Leader of the House of Parliament moved the following Bills;
Regulation of Asset Backed Securitization
to provide for the facilitation of securitization as a mechanism for the development of the capital market; the creation of securitization vehicles and the facilitation of accountability towards investors in asset backed securities; the regulation of the activities of originators and financial intermediaries involved in the securitization industry and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Secured Transactions
to provide for the securing of obligations in respect of movable property, maintenance of a Secured Transactions Register; and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Regulation of Insurance Industry (Amendment)
to amend the Regulation of Insurance Industry Act, No. 43 of 2000.
Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (Amendment)
to amend the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka Law, No. 4 of 1978.

Resolution under the Public Security Ordinance
Resolution moved by the Hon. Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order that the Proclamation made by the President under Section 2 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), as amended by Act, No. 8 of 1959, Law No. 6 of 1978, and Act, No. 28 of 1988, bringing into operation the provisions of Part II of the aforesaid Ordinance throughout Sri Lanka with effect from 02nd May 2009, was approved.
Accordingly, the Emergency debate was passed by Parliament with a majority of 74 votes, extending it for another month. 88 votes were cast in favour of the motion while 14 votes were against it.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1632 Hrs. until 0930 Hrs. on Wednesday 6th May 2009.
