Presentation of Bills
Hon. (Mrs.) Nirupama Rajapaksa was granted leave to introduce the following Bills;
- “Maheswary Foundation (Incorporation)”
- “Maithripala Sirisena Lakdharu Diriya Foundation (Incorporation)”
“Animal Welfare”
Hon. (Ven.) Athuraliye Rathana Thero was granted leave to introduce the Bill to provide for the protection of animals from cruelty; to foster kindness, compassion and responsible behaviour towards animals in the community; to establish a National Animal Welfare Authority; to provide for animal welfare generally; and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

was passed by the House.
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 23 and 24 of today’s Order Paper) were taken up and referred to the Legislative Standing Committee “B”:-
(i) Sri Lanka Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Incorporation) Bill
(ii) Society of Structural Engineers of Sri Lanka (Incorporation) Bill
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 25, 26, 27, 29 and 30 of today’s Order Paper) were considered and passed by the House:-
(i) Pahiyangala Conservation and Development Foundation (Incorporation) Bill
(ii) Young Men’s Buddhist Association, Kolonnawa (Incorporation) Bill
(iii) Free Nursery and Welfare Complex (Incorporation) Bill
