Business of the House


Presentation of Bills

The Leader of the House of Parliament on behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister of Internal Administration, and Deputy Minister of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order moved the following Bills:-

(i) "Appropriation"

To provide for the service of the financial year 2009; to authorise the raising of loans in or outside Sri Lanka, for the purpose of such service; to make financial provision in respect of certain activities of the Government during that financial year; to enable the payment by way of advances out of the Consolidated Fund or any other fund or moneys of, or at the disposal, of the Government, of moneys required during that financial year for expenditure on such activities; to provide for the refund of such moneys to the Consolidated Fund and to make provision for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

(ii) "Pradeshiya Sanwardana Bank"

To provide for the establishment of the Pradeshiya Sanwardana Bank and for the absorption of the assets, liabilities, contracts, employees etc of the established under the Regional Development Banks Act, No.6 of 1997 Development Banks and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.

(iii) "Housing Development Finance Corporation Bank of Sri Lanka (Amendment)"

To amend the Housing Development Finance Corporation Bank of Sri Lanka Act, No.7 of 1997.

Supplementary Sum - Head 212 - Programme 02: (Rs. 441,800,000) - Ministry of Education

was passed by the House.

Adjournment Motion on “Current financial situation in the country” was moved by the Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, M.P.
