Presentation of Bills

The Hon. Gayantha Karunatileka, Minister of Lands and Parliamentary Reforms and Chief Government Whip moved the Bill entitled

“Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (Amendment)”

to amend the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Act, No.2 of 1996.


Select Committees

Select Committee of Parliament to look into and report on the possibility of enabling Sri Lankans employed overseas to exercise their franchise in future elections and matters incidental thereto

House agreed to the Motion moved by the Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Higher Education and Highways and the Leader of the House of Parliament to grant an extension of time till 23rd November, 2017 to submit its report to the Parliament.

Seven Resolutions under the Appropriation Act

were passed by the House.


Motion at the Adjournment Time

Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Measures to be taken to meet reconciliation in Sri Lanka” was proposed by the Hon. Mujibur Rahuman.


The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1930 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 24th May 2017.
