Presentation of Reports from the Committees
(i) The Report of the Committee on Public Enterprises regarding the Rice import process of Lanka Sathosa Limited in the years 2014 and 2015 was presented by the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. Sunil Handunnetti.
(ii) The Report of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Business and Commerce was presented by the Hon. Nalaka Prasad Colonne on behalf of the Chairman of the Committee, the Hon. Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana.

Ministerial Statements
Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance made a Ministerial Statement on incident took place at the Lalith Athulathmudali hall, University of Peradeniya
Presentation of Bills
(i) The Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, Minister of Higher Education and Highways and Leader of the House of Parliament moved the Bill entitled
“Foreign Exchange”
to provide for the promotion and regulation of Foreign Exchange; to vest the responsibility for promoting and regulating Foreign Exchange in the Central Bank as the agent of the Government; to provide for the repeal of the Exchange Control Act (Chapter 423); and to provide for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
(ii) The Hon. Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Finance moved the Bill entitled
“Economic Service Charge (Amendment)”
to amend the Economic Service Charge Act, No.13 of 2006.
Main Business of the House for Today
The following Items (appearing as Item Nos. 153 to 156 of today’s Order Paper) were passed by the House:-
(i) Two Notifications under the Excise Ordinance
(ii) Regulations under the Convention against Doping in Sports Act
(iii) Regulations under the National Authority on Tobacco and Alcohol Act
Motion at the Adjournment Time
Motion at the Adjournment Time on “Compensation for families of estate workers who are affected by Mahaweli development project” was proposed by the Hon. Mylvaganam Thilakarajah.
The Parliament was, thereafter adjourned at 1852 Hrs. until 1300 Hrs. on Wednesday 3rd May 2017.
