Hon. D.V. Chanaka,— To ask the Minister of Ports and Shipping,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether two companies had made proposals for the privatization of the Hambantota port;
(ii) if so, the basis on which one out of those two companies was selected;
(iii) of the recommendations made by the Technical Evaluation Committee and the Cabinet Appointed Procurement Committee to select that company;
(iv) of the two agreements signed with the selected company;
(v) the manner, the shares of the two companies establish in terms of that agreement get divided;
(vi) the tasks entrusted to those two companies, separately;
(vii) the sources of income of those companies;
(viii) the steps that are to be taken to ensure the security of employment of the persons employed at present;
(ix) the company that will be entrusted with the maintenance of the Port; and
(x) the sources of income for the government and the Ports Authority of Sri Lanka through this privatization?
(b) If not, why?
