Hon. Imran Maharoof,— To ask the Minister of Highways & Road Development,—
(a) Is he aware that—
(i) the Kurinjakkerny bridge in Kinniya area got destroyed owing to severe floods which occurred in Trincomalee District in December, 2014; and
(ii) this bridge has not hitherto been completely reconstructed but was only subjected a temporary reconstruction?
(b) Will he inform this House—
(i) of the steps that were taken by the Ministry of Disaster Management for the reconstruction of this bridge which is utilized by a large number of people daily;
(ii) of the reasons for not reconstructing this bridge up to now; and
(iii) whether steps will be taken to reconstruct this bridge expeditiously?
(c) If not, why?
