Hon. (Prof.) Ashu Marasinghe – To ask the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) whether a policy decision has been taken by the government to convert the power grid of Sri Lanka into a smart grid;
(ii) the benefits to be derived by converting the power grid of Sri Lanka into a smart grid;
(iii) the total investment to be borne for the generation, transmission and distribution of power grid of Sri Lanka through the smart grid;
(iv) the year on which this tasks is expected to be completed;
(v) the governmental and international institutions that extend financial assistance to carry out this task; and
(vi) the amount of funds allocated up to now to the Ceylon Electricity Board to achieve the said objectives?
(b) If not, why?
