1397/2017: PROVISION ALLOCATED FOR TEA, RUBBER AND COCONUT RESEARCHES: DETAILS

Hon. Bandula Gunawardana,—To ask the Minister of Plantation Industries,—

(a) Will he inform this House —

(i) of the ratio adopted when distributing among Tea, Rubber and Coconut Research Institutes, the provision of Rs.200 million allocated to Tea, Rubber and Coconut Research fields as per proposal No. 162 of the 2016 budget;

(ii) separately the institute-wise number of employees in the Tea, Rubber and Coconut Research Institutes;

(iii)  separately the year-wise allocation of provisions from the General Treasury for tea research, rubber research and coconut research in years 2002, 2005, 2010 and 2014; and

(iv) of the research carried out in the three fields of tea, rubber and coconut during the past decade?

(b) If not, why?
