Hon. (Prof.) Ashu Marasinghe,— To ask the Minister of Power and Renewable Energy,—
(a) Will he inform this House—
(i) what steps have been taken by the Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy to popularise smoke-free firewood stoves;
(ii) what amount has been invested for it so far;
(iii) what steps have been taken by the government to provide fuel timber to the general public at commercial level; and
(iv) what extent of land has been cultivated under the Fuel Timber Cultivation Projects?
(b) If not, why?

(අ) (i) ශ්රී ලංකා සුනිත්ය බලශක්ති අධිකාරිය මගින් කිලිනොච්චිය, යාපනය, ත්රිකුණාමලය, ගාල්ල සහ කෑගල්ල යන දිස්ත්රික්ක තුළ අඩු ආදායම්ලාභී පවුල් සඳහා කාර්යක්ෂම දර උඳුන් 8,000කට වැඩි ප්රමාණයක් බෙදා හරින ලදී.
මෙය වඩාත් ඵලදායී වනවා. මොකද, කාර්යක්ෂම දර උදුන් නිෂ්පාදනය සහ විකිණීම ආර්ථික වශයෙන් ඵලදායී ව්යාපාරයක්.
(ii) දැව උදුන් බෙදා දීම සඳහා දළ වශයෙන් රුපියල් මිලියන 1.46ක්ද, උණු වතුර බොයිලේරු සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 0.84ක්ද, ජීව ඉන්ධන වියළන යන්ත්ර සඳහා රුපියල් මිලියන 3.75ක් පමණ මේ වන විට වැය කර ඇත.
(iii)
ඒ කියන්නේ standards හඳුන්වලා දීලා තිබෙනවා.
(iv) ඉහත ව්යාපෘති යටතේ මෙම වසරේදී හෙක්ටයාර් 500ක පමණ වගා කිරීමේ කටයුතු ආරම්භ කර ඇත.
මේ අනුව,
වන සංරක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව සමඟ එක්ව හෙක්ටයාර් 100ක්ද,
තලවකැලේ වතු සමාගම සමඟ එක්ව හෙක්ටයාර් 100ක්ද,
රාජ්ය නොවන සමාගම් සමඟ හෙක්ටයාර් 300ක්ද වගා කිරීමට නියමිතය.
ගරු මන්ත්රීතුමනි, ලංකාව පුරාම ඉඩම් අක්කර දස දහස් ගණනක් තිබෙනවා, කිසිම ප්රයෝජනයකට ගන්න බැරි සහ ආර්ථික වගාවක් කරන්නට බැරි. ඒ ප්රදේශවල ඉඩම් හඳුනාගෙන ඒවායේ මේ වන වගාව කරලා ජෛව ස්කන්ධ ලබා ගැනීමේ සහයෝගය හරහා රටට විශාල ශක්තියක් වාගේම ග්රාමීය ආර්ථිකය දියුණු කිරීමට හැකියාවකුත් අපට ලැබෙනවා.
