Question History

Answer

(a)          (i)      One Agreement has been entered into between the two States in the year 1987, namely “The Indo-Sri Lanka Agreement to establish peace and normalcy in Sri Lanka”.

(ii)      “The Indo-Sri Lanka Agreement to establish peace and normalcy in Sri Lanka” was signed on 29th July, 1987. The contents of the Agreement make provision for the two Governments to cooperate in establishing peace and normalcy in Sri Lanka.  Since the Agreement was valid, the demerger was effected by an Order of the Supreme Court. Similarly, other agreements superseded the 1987 Accord according to the changing times. I would like to table* the Indo-Sri Lanka Agreement and the Demerger Judgment of the Supreme Court.

(b) Does not arise.
