Hon. Major General (Rtd.) G.D. Sooriyabandara,— To ask the Minister of Plantation and Community Infrastructure,—(1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the —
(i) year in which the ‘Cashew Corporation’ was established;
(ii) objective of its establishment; and
(iii) extent of land under cashew cultivation in Sri Lanka?
(b) Will he also inform this House separately in relation to each year during the period from the year 2020 up to now of the —
(i) cashew harvest and requirement;
(ii) quantity of cashew exported and the amount of foreign exchange earned therefrom; and
(iii) quantity of cashew imported and the amount of foreign exchange spent thereon?
(c) Will he further inform this House of the—
(i) private institutions that import cashew into Sri Lanka; and
(ii) measures that have been taken by the Ministry to protect the local cashew producer and businessman?
(d) If not, why?
