Hon. M. Nizam Kariapper, PC,— To ask the Minister of Defence,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House of the number of —
(i) persons arrested and detained under detention orders issued by the President under the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act, No. 48 of 1979, during the period from 21st April 2019 to 21st April 2022, in connection with the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks;
(ii) persons who have been charged before a court of law up to date, out of the said number of persons;
(iii) said detainees who have been released without the filling of a charge sheet; and
(iv) persons who were held under detention and/or court orders for up to three (03) months, for upto one (01) year, for upto one and a half (1 ½ ) years and for more than eighteen (18) months, from those who were released, separately?
(b) If not, why?
