Hon. Ruwan Wijeweera,— To ask the Minister of Defence,— (1)
(a) Will he inform this House —
(i) of the Act under which the National Cadet Corps was established in Sri Lanka;
(ii) of the objectives for the establishment of it;
(iii) separately, of the number of cadet officers currently serving under the National Cadet Corps and the number of officers released by the Ministry of Education for active service;
(iv) separately, of the number of schools carrying out cadet activities and the total number of cadet units up to date;
(v) whether the activities of the National Cadet Corps are being modernized according to the current needs to achieve the desired objectives; and
(vi) if so, of such manner?
(b) If not, why?
